Graduated with M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from Iowa State University and Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from University of Nevada, Reno. He has more than 40 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering analysis, design, and construction. Dr. Zafir has been involved in projects with complex foundation designs and given lectures at various universities. He is also a Governor-appointed board member of California State Mining and Geology Board. He has published and presented many technical articles in peer reviewed journals and at conferences.
